DX Black Oni Taijin Murasame, Bandai

 Black Onitaijin Murasame, which appeared in the currently airing Violent Sentai Don Brothers, is, as the name suggests, a jet-black Don Onitaijin that transforms into Don Murasame. Such Black Onitaijin Murasame will be released as a Premium Bandai limited product!! We interviewed Mr. Akira Terano, who is in charge of planning and development at Bandai (honorific titles omitted).

DX Black Oni Taijin Murasame Violent Sentai Don Brothers

This is the DX Black Onitaijin Murasame! The head, chest, and sarcastic swords on both hands are newly sculpted parts. DX Black Don Onita Gin. This product is a convertible format, and the point is that it can be assembled into the black version of DX Don Onitaijin.

How did this item come about?

Terano: In last year's "Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger", we were planning to release Zenkaioh Black Juragaon, but due to various circumstances such as IC shortages, we weren't able to release the product in a timely manner. This year, in response to the strong sales of DX Don Onitaijin, we planned Black Onitaijin Murasame with the meaning of revenge.

It's not just a color change, there are also additional parts.

Terano: Yes. The main body is basically based on the DX Don Robo Taro's movable enhanced version, but the mask parts, chest parts, and sorcerer sword are newly shaped. That's why last year's Zenkaioh Black Juragaon had a completely redeco design due to the restrictions on the video production side of temporarily repainting the suit black. However, I heard from Toei that the Black Oni Taijin Murasame will be produced in CG, so it was possible to create a new partial model.

Mask parts and chest parts newly modeled for DX Black Oni Taijin Murasame, and Soshark Sword. Black Robo Taro is based on the "DX Don Robo Taro Enhanced Movable Version", which has an expanded range of motion for its legs. In addition, the flat hand attached to the DX Don Robo Taro movable enhanced version is also included. 

Because it's based on the enhanced articulation version of DX Don Robo Taro, the waist also moves quite a bit.

Terano: In the first place, when creating the movable enhanced version, I was working on the assumption that it would also be used for DX Black Onitaijin Murasame. Black doesn't have DX Tiger Dragon Gin, so I was able to come up with a product specification that doesn't guarantee fusion.

When you actually see the item, you can see that various black colors are used.

Terano: When I was consulting with the colorist, Dekomas Lab, the idea came up that I didn't want to lose the color information of the five bodies that were in the original DX Don Onitaijin. Even if black is black, it doesn't mean that they are all painted in the same black. Try making a black pattern for each original color. As a result, we ended up using 9 colors, just black.

If you include the difference in color of each material, even the same color will look different.

Terano: It's a trial and error that can be done because it's an item positioned as a so-called black version. The CG of the main story is the same black for production reasons, but this time I tried to be conscious of the color tones at a level that doesn't feel different from the play in order to make the appearance as an object.

Avatar gear is included as an early reservation benefit on Premium Bandai.

Terano: The activation sound is the same as Onitaijin, but it is an item that can only be obtained by early reservation from the start of reservation until October 9th (Sun), so please make a reservation early. Also, this time, the package design is reversible, so you can see illustrations of both Black Onitaijin Murasame and Black Onitaijin on the front and back. Also look forward to it!

In the first place, I feel that it is rare for a united robot from the Super Sentai series to be released on Premium Bandai.

Terano: Again, this is due to strong sales of DX Don Onita Gin. "DX Don Robo Taro Movable Augmented Edition & Departure Option Set" was also released on Premium Bandai, but we were able to announce Black Onitaijin Murasame safely. The DX Black Onita Jinmurasame will be sold exclusively at Premium Bandai, but the safety standards are the same as those sold at general stores.

So DX Black Onitaijin Murasame is the result of various experiments?

Terano: Yes. The enhanced version of Don Robo Taro was released on Premium Bandai, so it's now possible to add articulation from an adult's perspective. By eliminating the hurdles of designing for children, there is a new look, and the DX Black Onita Jin Murasame is completed by adding elements of the historical black version. I would be happy if you could get it.
