REVIEW SHFiguarts Kamen Rider Zero Two, Bandai

This is a review of SHFiguarts Kamen Rider Zero Two from Kamen Rider Zero-One Series.

Bandai SHFiguarts Kamen Rider Zero Two Review

The much-anticipated official version of Kamen Rider Zero Two has arrived, following the earlier release of the Izu version. While the initial impression might draw parallels to Zero One, a closer look reveals distinct differences, showcasing a completely new design. Notably, the face features a nuanced silhouette reminiscent of Zero-One, yet with a redesigned red antenna and added silver detailing along the edges, providing a more refined aesthetic. Despite the intricacies introduced in comparison to Zero-One, the precision in coloring is consistent throughout, with impeccably crafted compound eyes adding to the overall visual appeal.

Body and Sculpt

Although the design mirrors the earlier Izu version, the body shape has undergone a transformation, notably around the waist, where a substantial increase in weight is observed. It's worth mentioning a minor flaw observed in the sample photo, wherein the silver-painted edge on the abdomen armor remained unpainted, appearing black. However, reassurance comes in the form of replacement parts expected to rectify this issue. The belt obi, distinct from the Izu version, maintains consistency in the buckle part, ensuring continuity in its key gimmicks such as attaching and detaching the key.

Limbs and Articulation

Zero Two's limbs exhibit a noticeable increase in thickness and length compared to the Izu version, aligning her body shape more closely with Zero-One. The precision in reproducing details and the application of metallic paint contribute to the overall aesthetic, maintaining a harmonious balance.

Back and Accessories

The package includes the coveted Zero Two Progress Key, a notable addition absent in the Izu version. The body shape remains in line with Zero-One but slightly larger than the Izu version. Joint construction remains consistent with Zero-One, ensuring a seamless range of movement. Notable poses, including dashes, punches, and kicks, are executed with ease. While no weapons are included this time, a handle is provided for compatibility with other accessories such as Attache Calibur. Notable confrontations, including Arc Zero, Zero Two Big Bang, and the final blow to Arc Zero, are executed flawlessly, showcasing the versatility of this figure.

Summary

The SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Zero Two lives up to the expectations set by its predecessors. Amidst the regular releases of Zero One variants, the arrival of Zero Two may not feel unusually delayed, but it undoubtedly marks a significant milestone. The finished product impressively captures the proportions and form expected from the movie rendition, with accurate detailing on the complex head. The articulation, a hallmark of the Zero-One series, remains consistent, solidifying its status as a reliable and stable collectible for enthusiasts.
