This review covers the S.H. Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Ultraman Gaia (V2). As the first installment of the true bone sculpted Gaia, it features the V2 form that appears mid-series. Similar to Tiga and Dyna, the figure is based on 3D data of the original suit actor, resulting in a highly accurate representation.

Head Sculpt

The head sculpt is incredibly realistic, with precise details making it look like a miniature version of the actual suit. The eyes are made of clear parts with a slightly cloudy finish, and the paintwork on the top of the head is precise.

Body Details

Torso and Suit

The width and thickness of the suit are accurately depicted, just like in the series. The chest details are meticulously recreated, and the life gauge (equivalent to the color timer) is painted as usual.

Waist

The waist area continues the high level of detail, maintaining the suit's form and fit.

Limbs

The arms and legs are well-fitted to the body, with subtle wrinkles and bends that add to the realism.

Back

The back of the figure maintains the same level of detail, ensuring the suit looks accurate from all angles.

Articulation

Neck and Waist

The figure features extensive articulation, allowing for significant movement in the neck and waist. The shoulders can be raised high, and the elbows and knees can bend deeply.

Hips

The hips are designed with a pull-out mechanism, allowing for a wide range of motion in all directions and improving ground contact.

Shoulders

The shoulders can extend outwards up to 70-80 degrees. The chest's soft material ensures no paint damage during movement.

Comparison with Dyna

Compared to Dyna, the hip joint extension and the improved concealment of the shoulder joints show significant advancements.

Accessories

An alternate life gauge in its red state is included, following the usual practice. The set includes an effect part for the Quantum Stream, Gaia's signature beam attack. Additional effect parts for other special attacks are available in a separately sold set.

The trio from the Heisei era, Tiga, Dyna, and Gaia, can now be displayed together, showcasing the evolution of the true bone sculpted figures.

Poses and Movements

The figure can achieve a wide range of poses, further improved from Dyna, with flexible shoulder joints and the ability to raise the arms high.

Various hand poses are available, with realistic finger movements. The figure can stand on one leg without issues, thanks to the sturdy joints.

The neck and waist can rotate smoothly, enabling dynamic action poses. The pull-out hip joints make kneeling poses easier. However, be cautious of potential paint marks where the thighs and pants sections meet. The pull-out mechanism reduces this issue compared to previous figures.
