REVIEW SHFiguarts Ultraman Trigger Power Type, Bandai

This is review of Bandai action figure SHFiguarts Ultraman Trigger Power Type from Ultraman Trigger Series.

Bandai action figure SHFiguarts Ultraman Trigger Power Type Review

The Ultraman Trigger Power Type figure features a more muscular design than the basic form, similar to other power-type Ultraman figures. The torso and arms are bulkier, and the sculpting of the abs is particularly defined. The primary color is red, consistent with other power forms.

Head Sculpt

Compared to the Multi-Type version, the head's outline is slightly thicker, emphasizing strength. The eyes use the usual frosted clear parts, and the forehead features a transparent section. The detailed paintwork, including the crest, is carefully done.

Body Features

As expected from a power type, the torso is thicker and wider, with well-defined abdominal muscles. Unlike other forms, there is no blue on the figure; red dominates as the main color.

Waist Design

The waist has a robust and solid feel, complementing the rest of the bulky design.

Arms and Legs

The arms are noticeably more muscular than other forms, with a well-defined bicep sculpt. The legs seem unchanged compared to other forms.

Back Details

The back maintains the strong design, fitting with the figure’s overall powerful aesthetic.

Accessories

As with previous Ultraman figures, a red replacement Color Timer is included.

The included Circle Arms Power Claw accessory is fixed in a closed position and cannot be opened or adjusted.

This effect part is integrated with the right wrist, allowing you to swap the wrist part to use it. No support stands were included with this accessory.

A special bonus part is included for Ultraman Trigger Multi-Type: the Zeperion Beam motion effect. This effect part simulates the beam attack and can be attached by removing the Color Timer and securing it in place. Because of the large size of this part, the figure’s box is thicker than usual.

Comparison with Multi-Type and Sky-Type

The upper body is clearly bulkier than the other forms, making the power type immediately distinguishable. While the Sky-Type version was released in September 2022, the Power Type was delayed significantly.

Posing and Articulation

The figure shares the same articulation as the other forms, but the bulky upper body slightly reduces the range of motion in the shoulders and waist by about 10 to 20 degrees. The shoulders can still be raised to about 60 degrees, so posing isn't overly restricted. The hip joints remain unchanged, maintaining the same range of motion as previous forms. The joints are tight enough to allow for single-leg poses.

Power Claw Poses

While the neck can rotate freely, the waist is quite stiff, with little room for movement, making it slightly harder to turn.

Ground Stabbing Pose

The figure can be posed to simulate the Power Claw stabbing into the ground, adding dynamic posing options.

Deracium Light Stream Pose

When using the Deracium Light Stream effect, the wrist articulation functions properly, but without additional support, it’s difficult for the figure to stand on its own due to the effect's weight.

Using Bonus Parts with Multi-Type

The bonus Zeperion Beam part can be used with the Multi-Type version for enhanced display options.

Summary

The SHFiguarts Ultraman Trigger Power Type is a well-crafted figure. While its release was delayed compared to the Multi-Type (November 2021) and Sky-Type (September 2022), it was worth the wait. The upper body is bulkier, and the sculpted abs are faithfully recreated. The red-dominant color scheme looks great, and although the articulation is slightly hindered due to the bulky design, this is a minor issue. With a good variety of accessories, the figure provides satisfying display options. The Ultraman Trigger line seems to have reached its conclusion for now, but with the upcoming Blazar and Ark figures, there is much to look forward to in the series.
