Bandai action figure tokusatsu SHFiguarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Evil Tiga Review
This review covers the SHFiguarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Evil Tiga figure. Let's take a closer look at the details, articulation, and included effects, along with a comparison to the Multi-Type Tiga figure.
Full Body Design
Despite sharing the "Tiga" name, Evil Tiga’s body type and design differ significantly, making it feel like an entirely new creation. The figure features a higher percentage of silver in its color scheme, and the paintwork is incredibly smooth, delivering a premium, refined texture.
Head Sculpt
Compared to the regular Tiga, Evil Tiga’s eyes are angled more sharply, giving it a more menacing, villainous appearance. The subtle changes to the ears and mouth also contribute to this darker look. As with other Ultraman figures, the eyes use a cloudy clear part with a distinctive black outline. The intricate paintwork around the brow and ears was handled with precision.
Body Structure
Evil Tiga’s build is bulkier, resembling more of a "Power Type" rather than the sleeker "Multi-Type" Tiga. True to Shinkocchou Seihou's craftsmanship, the fine details, such as the suit’s wrinkles and folds, are realistically sculpted, adding to its lifelike appearance.
The arms and legs are slightly thicker than the Multi-Type, giving it a stronger, more robust presence. The figure’s height remains consistent with the other Tiga figures, as the limb length is the same, but the overall physique is more imposing.
Back and Accessories
As expected, the figure comes with the red exchangeable Color Timer. The Evil Shot effect part is integrated with the forearm and can be swapped out for the standard arm. Additionally, the beam collision effect part is included, designed to be placed between the beams of Evil Tiga and Multi-Type Tiga during battle scenes. The colors, particularly the purple on Evil Tiga's side, are beautifully reproduced.
Articulation and Movement
The joints are similar to the latest Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman figures, offering smooth and stable articulation. The hip joints feature a pull-out mechanism, allowing for a wider range of motion, and the joints are sturdy enough for the figure to balance on one leg.
The shoulders use a pull-out mechanism instead of the click-style joint, enabling the arms to bend inward more than usual. The chest is made of soft material, but the paint remains durable, maintaining the figure’s high-quality look.
Iconic Poses
Though the figure can’t achieve every pose from the series, it can replicate some of Evil Tiga’s iconic movements, including the pre-Evil Shot pose where the arms are spread wide. The shoulders can be adjusted to come close to recreating the famous “It should be like this!” pose. Even with the lightweight effects attached, the figure stands without losing balance.
Comparison with Multi-Type Tiga
When placed side by side with Multi-Type Tiga, the bulkier physique of Evil Tiga is more noticeable. The original Multi-Type Tiga had some flaws, and it would be great to see a refined version of it in the future, considering how much the Shinkocchou Seihou line has improved.
Summary
The SHFiguarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Evil Tiga figure perfectly captures the villainous look and imposing physique from the show. The silver paint is smooth and gives a high-quality finish, and the overall sculpting is top-notch, reflecting the Shinkocchou Seihou standard. The articulation is excellent, making posing easy, especially with the updated pull-out hip joints. The attention to detail, such as the inclusion of beam effects and collision parts, allows for impressive battle scene recreations with Tiga. While the first Shinkocchou Seihou Multi-Type Tiga had some issues, recent Ultraman releases have shown significant improvements, making future figures in this line something to look forward to.
