Bandai action figure Tokusatsu SHFiguarts Kamen Rider Fire Gotchard Daybreak/Gotchard Daybreak Steam Hopper Review
This review covers the SHFiguarts Fire Gotchard Daybreak / Daybreak Steam Hopper, a visually striking repaint and partial remold of the standard Gotchard Steam Hopper form. It brings fiery new energy to an already solid base figure, offering two modes and a strong visual impact.
Gotchard Daybreak Steam Hopper Mode
Design Overview
The body sculpt is identical to the original Gotchard Steam Hopper, but now it's decked out in a vibrant orange color scheme with intricate fire patterns added across the suit. This alone gives the figure a completely new presence.
Head sculpt is unchanged, but the shift from metallics to flat orange paint gives a different aesthetic. The fire detailing on the forehead and goggles is finely printed, with no noticeable blemishes.
Belt & Details
Features the same Gotchard Driver. The Gotchard Draw Holder remains on the left arm. Paint apps across the body are clean, with the fire pattern integrated seamlessly.
Transformation to Fire Gotchard Daybreak
Included Accessories
Swappable soft PVC cape parts. Interchangeable belt piece with the Gotcher Igniter. Gotcha Tornado weapon, including parts for bow mode
Transforming into Fire Gotchard Daybreak involves:
- Removing the shoulder armor to install the cape's internal joints.
- Attaching the cape at three points (shoulders and scarf area).
- Swapping the belt to include the Gotcher Igniter.
The cape is made of soft PVC, not cloth, so it can’t be posed dynamically. However, it’s flexible enough to not interfere much with kneeling or dramatic poses.
Weapons & Action Poses
The Gotcha Tornado is included and can convert into bow mode, although the short bow handle makes two-handed poses a bit awkward.
The figure can hold the standard Gotcharge Gun from the normal Steam Hopper release (not included). A dual-wielding pose is possible, just like in the show.
Posability
The articulation is mostly unchanged from the original Steam Hopper, meaning excellent range in most areas. However, the cape does limit shoulder movement, making dynamic posing slightly harder.
Despite this, the soft PVC cape allows enough give for poses like crouching or finishing attacks. Cape damage risk is a concern—extra care is recommended when posing with shoulders raised.
Comparison Shots
Compared side-by-side with the standard Steam Hopper: The sculpt is largely the same, but the color scheme dramatically changes the visual identity. Also shown next to Fire Gotchard in his default form, showing consistency in fiery aesthetics.
Summary
And that wraps up the SHFiguarts Kamen Rider Fire Gotchard Daybreak / Daybreak Steam Hopper review.
While it's mostly a repaint with minor additions, the vivid orange palette, detailed fire patterns, and swappable cape & belt make it feel fresh. The figure successfully captures the energy of its on-screen counterpart, especially with the cool Fire Gotchard Daybreak form.
The cape's rigid material slightly hinders articulation, and having the dual Gotcharge Guns would’ve been a nice bonus. Still, it's a solid release for Gotchard fans—especially since the transformation between the two forms is quick and easy.
With fewer standard Rider Figuarts releases lately—possibly due to the focus on Shinkocchou Seihou—this might be the last Gotchard entry for a while. Still, we’re hoping they won’t take too long to release Platinum Gotchard or other mid-season forms.
